Perched high on a bluff with sweeping views across Puget Sound to Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, and the Cascades, this thoughtfully designed compound unfolds as a rare convergence of innovation, sustainability, and modern living. Originally conceived in 2009, the East Residence stands as one of Washington’s earliest LEED Platinum-certified homes outside of Seattle—an intentional, forward-thinking design that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings.

In 2025, the West Pavilion was introduced as a complementary yet distinct living environment—designed to offer exceptional flexibility for today’s lifestyle. While not LEED-certified, it reflects the same ethos of thoughtful design, serving as an ideal space for multigenerational living, a private office or creative studio, wellness retreat, or guest quarters—complete with generous scale and a wet bar for effortless entertaining. Together, the two structures create a cohesive compound, connected yet independent, offering a rare level of versatility without compromise.

The East Residence itself is a study in sustainable design and intentional living. Built with a commitment to environmental stewardship, the original structure on site was carefully deconstructed, diverting 98% of materials from landfill. The home is oriented to maximize passive heating and cooling, anchored by a central thermal mass spine that regulates temperature and defines the flow between private and public spaces. Expanses of glass invite natural light and frame the ever-changing vistas, while operable elements allow marine breezes to naturally ventilate the interiors.

Every detail was considered—from site-milled materials sourced from neighboring fallen trees to a vegetated roof that enhances insulation and creates an elevated outdoor retreat. The result is a home that lives efficiently and beautifully, using approximately 70% less energy than a typical residence of similar size.
